One of the most rewarding aspects of my role as Head Groundsman is seeing the ground develop year after year.
Through continued investment - led by an excellent committee, in maintenance practices, equipment and ongoing improvements to the facilities - the club has established a reputation for one of the best grounds in the T-Rippon League, and is up there with the very best in Essex.

The squares are looking in fantastic shape, despite the tough conditions and lack of rain in May. Plenty of watering and moving of the sprinkler has been a real challenge! The aim is always to create a surface that is consistent, offers good bounce and carry, and one that provides an even contest between bat and ball.
Get Set Weekend got us off to a great start, over 50 volunteers gave up their time. The nets at the ground have been renewed and resurfaced. The new picket fence at the Cherry Tree end, I'm sure you'll all agree looks stunning - a big thankyou to everyone involved.
Cricket grounds are never finished; there is always another pitch to prepare, another renovation to plan or another improvement to make. That ongoing challenge is what drives us, and everyone involved takes great pride in providing facilities that support the club's cricketing ambitions - both now and for future generations.
